Blue Shield offers a variety of health and well-being benefits to employees and their eligible dependents. From day one, you can expect comprehensive medical, prescription drug, vision, and dental benefits with coverage and costs to fit your budget, plus a wide range of doctors and hospitals.
Blue Shield offers a 4% 401(k) company match, which is immediately vested at 100%. In addition to the match program, Blue Shield has two additional 401(k) contributions at year-end; 2% for all employees hired after 2016 and 1% to all employees if administrative expense goals are met.
Blue Shield employees enjoy a generous paid time off package that includes: a minimum of 20 days paid time off per year, 11 paid holidays per year, 1 health day off per year to use for health and well-being, 4 weeks paid sabbatical after 5 years of continuous service, 2 weeks of Paid Parental Leave, and Paid Caregiver Leave.
We provide employees with 24 hours of paid time off to volunteer with eligible nonprofit organizations each year. With our Matching Gifts Program, Blue Shield matches $1 for every $1 an employee donates to eligible nonprofits, up to $1,000 per employee per year.
Blue Shield provides life and accidental death and dismemberment coverage (AD&D) of 1.5 times the employee’s annual salary. Blue Shield also pays for insurance coverage for accidental death or injury while traveling on Blue Shield business. Employees may purchase additional voluntary life insurance and AD&D insurance at an affordable group rate for themselves and their dependents.
Employees can use pretax dollars to pay for eligible health care expenses and dependent care expenses up to the annual IRS limits.

The Tuition Reimbursement Program is designed to assist you in your career advancement at Blue Shield by providing 100% reimbursement, up to $5,250 per year, for undergraduate and graduate degrees, professional development, or certificate programs.
We've teamed up with The University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) to offer full-time employees the option of free online education through a Corporate Full Tuition Grant (CFTG). Students that are eligible for the CFTG can earn their degrees debt-free as Blue Shield of California's tuition reimbursement dollars combined with the CFTG cover all associated costs.
Dependent children, stepchildren, and grandchildren of eligible Blue Shield employees may apply for financial assistance for continued education. Awards can be up to $5,000.

The Blue Advisor Mentorship program is a formal, 6-month mentoring program offered enterprise-wide to employers. Program participants are supported by their managers, commit 2-4 hours per month, and have growth and advancement outlined in their Personal Development Plan (PDP).
